Zara Idelson

21.09.24 – 26.10.24 Solo exhibition Meyer Riegger, Karlsruhe

Zara Idelson’s paintings depict everyday things such as, the view from a window, a memory of a walk, still lifes in the studio, surroundings, floor plans and building sites. The painter works in thin layers of paint. Embracing casual gestures and marks, sometimes with barest interventions such as leaving the background untouched, or using stained canvas where paint has obviously been rubbed out. Essential to her paintings is the idea of place, the simple desire to communicate “where you are”. Idelson recently moved from London to rural Cornwall, where she is now working. These new paintings are to be shown for the first time at Meyer Riegger, Karlsruhe.
